Windows 95 Download Instructions
(DOS Version)

STEP 1 (CREATING A TEMPORARY DIRECTORY):

Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.

Now double-click on the "C:" icon in the newly opened "My Computer" window.

Select "New->Folder" from the "File" pulldown menu. You should see a new folder called "New Folder" appear in the file list section of the "My Computer" window.

Rename the folder "New Folder" to "QoInstall" by right-clicking on the "New Folder" icon and selecting the "Rename" option from the menu that appears. The text below the "New Folder" icon should turn blue and a small blinking cursor should appear at the end of it. Press the 'Delete' key and then type "QoInstall" into the area below the folder icon. Press the 'Enter' (or 'Return') key. The folder should now be named "QoInstall".

STEP 2 (DOWNLOADING QOHELETH.ZIP):

For either the Netscape or Internet Explorer browsers, you can download the QOHELETH.ZIP file by following these steps:

Right-click on the download link: (not yet!--read the rest of Step 2 first! ^-^) Qoheleth Demo.

Now select the option "Save Target As" ("Save Link As" in Netscape) in the menu that appears. A file-save box should appear with the text "QOHELETH.ZIP" in the "File Name" field.

Select the "File Name" field and replace its contents (which probably reads "QOHELETH.ZIP") with "C:\QOINSTALL\QOHELETH.ZIP".

Now click on the "Save" button.

If you are using a browser other than Netscape or Internet Explorer, then please consult your browser documentation on how to download a file to your hard drive. Make sure you put the file in your newly created directory, "C:\QOINSTALL", before proceeding to Step 3.

STEP 3 (UNCOMPRESSING QOHELETH.ZIP):

If you are using WinZip, you should be able to run it by opening the Start Menu and clicking on the "WinZip" item at the top of the menu. If it's not there, try selecting the "Programs" item on the Start Menu and looking for "WinZip" in your program list. If it isn't there, and there is no "WinZip" icon on your desktop, then you probably don't have WinZip installed. You may download it from WinZip's homepage. Once WinZip is open, follow the steps listed below.

Select the QOHELETH.ZIP file for unzipping by either clicking on the "Open" icon in the WinZip toolbar or selecting "Open Archive" from the "File" menu. An "Open" dialog box should appear.

Select the "File name" field and replace its contents with "C:\QOINSTALL\QOHELETH.ZIP". If you get a "Cannot open C:\QOINSTALL\QOHELETH.ZIP. File does not exist." error, go back to Step 2 and make sure you placed the QOHELETH.ZIP file in the directory "C:\QOINSTALL".

If WinZip succeeded in opening QOHELETH.ZIP, you should see a list of these seven files in the WinZip contents window:

INSTALL.EXE
INSTALL.PIF
QOHELETH.CAT
QOHELETH.RAT
QOHELETH.DK1
README.TXT
LICENSE.DOC

Extract these files by either clicking on the "Extract" button on the toolbar or selecting the "Extract" item in the "Actions" pulldown menu. An "Extract" dialog box should appear.

Replace the contents of the "Extract To:" field of the "Extract" dialog box with the following: "C:\QOINSTALL".

Click on the "Extract" button or hit 'Enter'. If no errors are reported, then close WinZip and proceed to Step 4.

STEP 4 (RUNNING INSTALL.EXE):

Select the "Run" item on the Start Menu. The Start Menu can be opened by clicking on the "Start" button that appears on the Win95 toolbar in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Replace the contents of the "Run" dialog box with "C:\QOINSTALL\INSTALL.EXE". Make sure you include the ".EXE". DON'T type "C:\QOINSTALL\INSTALL".

Follow the on-screen instructions to install and run the game.
